Who else can see this happening next year?

Reasons:

- uniformity amongst product lines.
- IGZO display in iPad Air made vastly reduced size possible, as battery is much smaller. Could do the same for the iPhone.

Using IGZO technology will also make much larger screen resolutions possible in the future.

I can see there being light, thin 'air' models and fat, longer lasting and maybe faster 'pro' models at some point.

My kill-joy opinion is...

Smartphone is a saturated market. From now on just incremental improvement, don't expect another game-changing 2007 again.

I can't see anyone wanting to go thinner than the 5/5s. Larger screen yes, thinner no.

I'm under no illusions there will be as big a leap as the first iPhone.

Thin is all the rage these days :p

iPhone Maxi - bigger screen size like Note 3, bigger memory size (256 and 512GB), Canon EOS Rebel-like camera, 8 core ARM cpu, and better battery life (48+). :apple:

What are you possibly storing on your phone that you need more than 64GB, or even 128GB?

In my opinion - next year we gonna see iPhone Pro, and an iPhone Air.
iPhone Pro - 4.5" Display, more RAM and faster CPU, better GPU.
iPhone Air - 4" New design with the last year specs (like 5S).

In addition Apple gonna sell the 5C 8GB as the lowest-end iPhone.

The only issue with naming it the iphone air, is what do you name the next version? iPhone Air 2? It gets too confusing. Just keep the naming structure as is.

4K video? Who knows iTunes give up 1080p movie to 4K? and EOS's 24mp size is bigger. :apple:

oh no I don't want this one. I am not look back to 1980 again. :apple:

I meant that it would be a brick with those specs, not that you want it to be a brick :p

You know that smartphones and tablets tend to be the only devices with a version number, right?

New MacBooks are just called MacBook/MacBook Air/MacBook Pro.

There's no reason why it couldn't work the same here..

2013: iPhone 5s, iPad Air, iPad Mini
2014: iPhone Air, iPhone Pro, iPad Air, iPad Pro, iPad Mini
2014: iPhone Air, iPhone Pro, iPad Air, iPad Pro, iPad Mini
Et al..

This.

Actually I find my iPhone 5 to be a little too thin .... I do prefer iPhone 5c body: it holds better.

I agree. 5s just feels too fragile without a case, but just right with the Case Buddy clear case that I have on it.

iPhone air??? It would be hard to get lighter than what the iPhone 5 is.

As much as I hate to admit it, you are right.

Yes 2007 ! That was amazing !Just having an iPhone was seemingly pure status.I remember being amazed at how responsive the screen was.Now will there be another year like that .....I wanna be optimistic but like it was said the market is saturated but there will be new hardware and existing tweaks that make it all worth while. The touch I.D was a pretty big jump but I hope apple is thinking big for the 6 or air or ? But I am a pretty loyal and honest person and I must say I will likely buy the next iPhone just as I have all the others just because I like the OS as well as having the latest and greatest.

The honest side of me also marvels at the specs on the note 3

You're absolutely right. Apple spoiled folks with the relatively small period of time with significant innovations. I get annoyed hearing about why Apple doesn't innovate anymore. Game changers don't happen frequently.
