Coming over from an android based "smart" phone to my first iphone last week, I find my new device a mystery needing to be solved.

Examples:

Using the built-in iPhone email app, if I have a long list of emails in my inbox I don't want to read or save, the only way I've found to clear them out is to go to EDIT and than tap on the empty circle that appears to the left of each and every email. Surely there is a way to "SELECT ALL" and then "DELETE ALL." So...where is it?

In GMAIL, the crud my computer gmail account decides is SPAM is also pushed to the iPhone. Now, it doesn't show up in my computer's inbox, but it shows up on the iPhone. Anyway to not have what is predetermined to be SPAM show up on the iPhone?

Is there an app that allows you to control and change the "SETTINGS" on one's iPhone from one's computer? If so, what is it?

Thanks. I've gotten some great help here so far and i appreciate responses from those in the know. I surely am not in the know. :D
