Where I am
Back to an iPhone, after being away for around 6 months or so.

I used to use Swiftkey, with an orange theme (black keys, with orange letters). Seems they have removed that theme. Ugh.

Also, the keyboard seems to remain open after sending a message (SMS). Is that normal now, too?

Thanks all.

I use personalized themes, with my photos.

I honestly don't remember the keyboard ever doing this.

Edit: it just did however when I posted this message 🤣

No themes I know of but a fully functional swipe keyboard which works in all applications. SwiftKey has been known to not work sometimes in some applications due to os restrictions.

Ah, got it. I actually do not use the swipe feature. I don’t even like it.

It is bad enough that I do not hand write as much as I should, to keep motor skills going. But, switching to swiping would seriously diminish the likes of motor skills, and even spelling and such, too...

More a case of as soon as I got the iPhone setup, I installed Swifkey. Force of habit.

Alas, I will try it later today. Curious if it offers colour options. Then again, with dark mode, maybe that does not matter...

How can you prefer SwiftKey over Apple default is quite difficult to understand for me

Despite the bug in iOS 13 that seems to force the keyboard back to default in some apps, I still much prefer SwiftKey over the default keyboard. Gif and emoji search. Stored clipboard entries for quick paste. Easier switching to other languages. All reasons I prefer SwiftKey.
