ModMyiPhone posts two claimed leaked screenshots of the iPhone's upcoming iTunes App Store.

He was just bored pressing buttons on his phone and suddenly instead of getting the normal "cannot connect" message that he had previously encountered, appstore launched revealing the appstore UI. Browsing around he found that the Genres and Top 50 categories contained a few apps.

The screenshots aren't necessarily telling from a user's perspective. In this regard, Apple gave a more comprehensive preview during their SDK press event.

The images are also being hosted over at TUAW.

no, they sayd in the article it was only a link to the web app. they are just testing the appstore out with web apps.

Yeah, i read the comments after i wrote that. Still, up and testing, thats great!

I'm excited, can't wait to get my iPhone 2.0 :D I hope they actually ship it in June and not announce it then have the ship date be a month or two later :(

These dont really show much. can't wait for the app store to roll out this summer though, should be some great apps

Yeah, not a whole lot different than the itunes store. Which is expected I suppose. June can't come soon enough.

what im wondering is what apple plans to call its store in the future. becasuse itunes is fairly specificly a music app, at the least so the name implies, throwing everything into itunes is a good move since everyone getting ipods then gets the stores and stuff all in one bundle, even safari, but if itunes is to be the flagship of off-OS apple software then perhaps its name should be something other than itunes. with the introduction of app downloads and music downloads itunes has become the "pod" app. also as we see flash memory creeping up on CD memory, the need to change the itunes logo is also becoming immanent. if blue ray doesnt come out in the next macs it will usher in the erra of flash storage and online distribution. other than a ramm chip there arent very many iconic displays of what flash memory is except for the ipod which is another reason to change itunes into a ipod dedicaded app.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

anticipation is rising. June will be an interesting month.

I remember a rumor years ago about having the ability to purchase Mac apps via Software Update or iTunes. It never made the light of day but at least the concept finally arrived.

Not sure I'm buying this one, folks. That dark gray color just doesn't seem like a color choice Apple would make. It departs from the established iPhone interface aesthetic and is kinda out of nowhere.

I'm sorry guys but this is how the App Store looks as it was even shown at the SDK event if any of you would take the time to watch the video before screaming fake.

guys... he has blatantly just knocked that up using the SDK...

Got bored pressing buttons... Like what???? the home button.

Idiot, trying to show off and get a name for himself.

You do have a good point there, but remember that the video of the SDK event is a video... of a Keynote slide... of an image... of the App Store... at an angle... under imperfect lighting. That's a fair stretch from reality. I wouldn't be surprised if these leaked screenshots were someone's attempt to mimic the imperfect color as seen in that imperfect video. They just seem a little too awkwardly dark to me.

Seems like a pretty dull thing to fake. What's the point? We all know it's coming. If it is real it probably won't look like that in the end anyway as graphics are bound to be tweaked before it goes live. Why have the all singing all dancing graphics available to be accessed while the development is going on?
