Hey there,

i just startet streaming for fun (and getting in touch with this topic)
first i startet without a cam, but wanted to try it out.

So i startet to use my iPhone 13Pro.
Because i feared some camera damage i bought an logitec c922.
Unfortunatly the camera quality is incomprehensible bad so i would like to use my iphone for my purpose.
Still im worried about some damages so i neede some advice here.

Lets say, im streaming for aprx 4 up to max 6h on a session and lets say 4-5 times a week.
During the week rather 3-4h
During weekend rather 6h+/-

Should i be worried about my iphone cam and sould i invest some money into a "bad quality" webcam or is the iphone cam capable to to the job?
Is it wise to plan some breakes, lets say every 2-3h a break of 10-20mins to "relax" the cam or is this time span too much for the iphone in total whether with or without breaks? (to be honest, i do every 1-2h a break for 5-10 min for myself because i cant sit so long talking alone in my room hahaha)

thanks and sorry for my bad englich

A Logitech 922 webcam should more then be sufficient for web streaming.

When the pandemic first started and everything shut down, I was called upon to help set up hardware at some churches so they could stream their services. (I worked for a company that did this). The 922 camera was my go-to because of price and quality. So it surprises me to read that your quality was bad.

At any rate, then OBS software came out with an add-on to allow iOS devices to be used as streaming cameras. Which basically made any Apple device a wireless streaming camera. This really worked great and with the seamless transitions of OBS, the end user had no idea they were watching a bunch on iPhones.

Absolutely no issue with “camera damage”, but for extended use I’d recommend an external battery pack to keep the phones charged.

I’ve not heard anybody call the Logitech C920 series camera bad either. It’s the de facto standard webcam for most early career streamers.

Your iPhone battery may quickly degrade because using video for a long time will heat up the phone. But the replacement service cost is low.
