Is there word on when we can go to apple to play and handle the new iPhones? Or will it probably be announced or do I have to call the store closest to me? Thanks in advance!!

In the past, it was only on launch day when you can go in and play with them. So probably 9/25.

If you are talking about the 6S/6S Plus as a display model, that won't happen till launch day so you will have to plan on visiting the apple store on the 25th.
