So like many of you, I could not wait to get this phone and with good reason. It's a great phone, with awesome features. But dang, some people at AT&T do not know what's going on...at all.

Like a lot of you, I was quoted a few days, and the phone arrived a whole week after the latest ETA. Meanwhile, people after me were getting their phones (I saw this via the att.com order status). I let some people at the store know I was mad...

Once I got my phone (a black 16gig), I ordered my brother a white one, or so I thought. I compared my phone receipt with his and the numbers matched (therefore his was black also - number 69114). I had to call the store and change the order, but I still don't think they got it right.

A couple hours later, I realized I received no physical receipt of the actual purchase of the phone or activation. Was I not supposed to get one? What if I need to return this thing?

My cousin-in-law ordered an 8gig on the 13th. He was number 11 (I was 9). Today, his order through att.com says CANCELLED!!!! WHAT?!!?!!?!? He was pissed, and I was pissed for him. I called the store, and they said "We'll fix it"
Yeah right.

Tonight, I signed up on the att.com website to see my bills and what not. I don't get it, why do I have overage fees? Why is my bill $175? Why does it say I have a plan for 1350 minutes when on the right it says I have 900 minutes? I don't really need 900 minutes let alone 1350. Please someone explain some things to me. I'm not sure all this is worth a headache for a phone. Please look at the attached image.

Also, my phone gets subpar 3G service. And when 3G is on, I get almost no bars. The battery is so-so. I have a couple dimples/bubbles on the back of the phone. Also, I noticed the glass towards the top of the phone is slightly raised. Otherwise, I love the phone. I've been waiting since last June to get it. Should I ask for an exchange for those issues, though? They bother me slightly

Thanks, and great forum. I have been checking it and reading it for quite a while and many of you are informative when it comes to Apple. Hopefully I can contribute more to the site rather than just ranting.

Thanks

I agree, I have no idea what is going on with AT&T.

I wasn't able to receive/send any text messages and so I called AT&T to ask what was up. The (very nice) CSR informed me that no one had added texting/data plans to my account, even though I confirmed INSTORE about 10 times. I was like wtf? What buttons are they pushing on the computer and why are they asking if they are not going to do anything!! I even have receipts to prove the changes they made to my account, and they had me sign something that confirmed the changes - so why were no changes showing up?

I have one bubble on my phone but it's tiny and I don't care. My battery seems to be lasting pretty well but I turned 3G off and turned wifi on since I was pretty much in my house all day.

/looks at the forum title and site name...
Nope no where does it say AT&T Customer service or AT&T Forums.

Perhaps calling AT&T Customer service would get you results, as ranting here and posting a SS of your bill will get you nothing but stress release.

I'm betting that 69 overage is text msgs.
Then add the prorated month + month servce for 1300+ mins
So Uhhh lets see $79 a month +$30 for data = minimum$109 a month bill. Add taxes prob. $15 so we are at $124 a month then a partial month of say 2wks? $55 +$6.90 in txt charges so thats roughly $184 so yeah your bill is on target.

any questions?

ATT cant get its **** together at all. They have no clue whats going on. This would have been SO MUCH easier if we just activated at home. Did people have issues? I remember it took 2 minutes, easiest phone I ever had.

Oh it doesn't? Apple and AT&T are in business together, if you didn't realize.

And yes, it is stress release as customer service is not open at this hour. Also, I want some answers. I guess the wrong person replied to my thread if I were to want some real answers.

As I originally stated, I have a 900 minute plan, but it states 1350 minutes on the screenshot. It also states 900 somewhere else on the screenshot. So, what's going on? Should I not be curious? I also signed up for 200 text messages, so your overage charge bet might lose you some money.

I appreciate you taking time and trying to answer my questions.

I feel as though if AT&T didn't have the iPhone, it would be hanging on for dear life.

People can't really help you until you post your itemized bill to see what's up.

Most likely your being billed for two months plus the $36 activation fee as they do that for new customers.

They are business partners yes, but one has nothing to do with the other as far as billing/service issues go.

That would be correct any one that replies has no real clue what is on your bill because you failed to post up the detailed billing part that would explain the bill in full. I like others took an educated guess based on past experience.

...and AT&T hasn't just shown how they can mess up a bill? ;)

Sadly no, AT&T has its tentacles in to much. They would just write of the wireless part of the business as a loss leader then re-spin it off as cingular.

Welcome back to the thread.

Att.com will not give me an itemized bill (though it says one will be available after I pay the first bill), but I know for a fact that there is the 900 minute plan ($60), 200 text messages ($5), and the data plan ($30). That's $95 (without taxes, activation, etc)

And why did my billing cycle reset on the 16th. I bought the phone on the 11th?

A term called "prorated/proration". Billing cycles apparently reset on the 16th, and since you got your contract on the 11th, you were charged a full month's service for 5 days of use so you could use it before the new billing cycle.

Is the billing cycle supposed to start from the day of purchase?
I signed my contract on the 16th, and they told me it's pro-rated until the end of the month (billing cycle).

To find the actual terms of your contract:
1. Log back into your account and click on the "My Profile" link near the top of the window.

2. Click on the "User Information" tab and look for the "Contract Information" section near the middle of the window.

3. Under your contract end date, click on the "Customer Service Summary" link.

4. Then open the pdf file that will show your contract plan minutes and any prorated charges for your next monthly invoice.
