iPhone/AT&T service issues Boston/Cambridge?

I live in Waltham but am constantly going into Boston/Cambridge for various missions and have been noticing some issues with my iPhone 3G finding towers. When I emerge from the subway it seems to be taking noticeably longer for my phone to find an Edge or 3G signal (all I get is NO SIGNAL). Until the past few days when I have been experiencing this, I have been very pleased with the iPhone service in Boston.

Anyone else notice this? If it is just me, maybe I need a restore?
 
I have this problem too in the outer parts of Los Angeles. The only work around I've found is turning on airplane mode and then turning it back off.
