I know- another battery thread but hopefully this one is a little more specific to a certain set of circumstances. Just curious, do users who have poor battery life also have Google installed on their phones?

This is anecdotal but when I got my iPhone 6+ I was less than impressed with the battery life. It was barely superior to my two year old iPhone 5 even after adjusting the settings as others have done to no avail. Essentially, a full charge would last me from 6:45 AM to 5 PM with moderate usage dropping to under 20% charge which was nearly identical to the iPhone 5 I had been using.

So I dug a little deeper and disabled the location services for the Google app. From 6:45 AM to 3:45 PM as I am writing this now the battery has dropped to 69%. So in this case it seems that the Google app alone by running in the background was causing the excessive battery drain. Certainly there were other apps that I’ve run the last several days so this is less than a systemic analysis, just something to consider if you’re experiencing battery problems.

Coincidentally, Google updated their app today but they didn’t indicate precisely why other than “bug fixes.”

Thought I’d share this in case others are having similar experiences.
