Iphone Battery Help

Hello all.
I have a iphone (32 GB 3GS) which i picked up cheap , When i got it the phone was in a start up loop and i fixed that and god os 4 working
The iphone has a cracked Digitizer but the main problem is the battery as it only lasts a minute with more than 24 hrs charge. Even on charge it starts up charges for a few seconds and turns off, continuing the process all the time . What should i do and is there any fix ?

Does the phone work fine while plugged into a power source? If so, i'd get a battery/screen replacement kit (google). Or send it off for those two things to get replaced. Probably cost you around $150 to replace both.
