My daughter told me that her iPhone has started to shut down randomly. When she tries to turn it on it says the phone needs to be charged like the battery is at 0% but it was at 60-70% when it shut down. She has to plug it in to get it to restart and then it will just shut down on it's own. The last time was when it showed the battery at 98%. It's an a 2 1/2 year old iPhone 5 running 8.3. To me it sounds like the battery has totally died. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

run the serial number on apples site. there was a replacement program for iPhone 5 batteries if it falls under the program. if not, you can pay to have the battery replaced or get a new phone
