iPhone battery

just a quick query about the type of battery in the iPhone 3G

Is it OK to charge the battery before it goes flat, in the same was i can with my macbook? or should i wait until it's absolutely out of juice?

just got my iPhone, and would like to preserve it's (already meagre) battery life!

on a similar note - any recommendations for brands of portable charging units that would be available in the UK? seen one by kensington that looks quite cool

You can charge it whenever you need to. Don't worry about waiting until it dies.

Yes with all the 'smart' charging circuitry, the nimh (Lipo) batteries are pretty bullet proof.

Not correct. You can wait until it dies to calibrate your battery every month or so.

Well there is something to be said for that. As draining them right down will shorten the life of the battery it won't wreck it. Just don't make a habit of doing it.
