Stopped by At&T store with wife to look at phones.
She'd like an iPhone but doesn't want to spend the extra $30 for data.

So she looked at Blackberry. Still have to have the data package, but the At&T rep said "after you receive the rebates, just cancel the data package".

I know with my iPhone, canceling is not an option. Can you in fact cancel other data packages, or is a sales ploy they are putting on her?

Thanks

The rep is right. You can cancel the data plan on other phones. On the iphone, you are locked in for 2 years. It's the only phone in their lineup that mandates a data package.
