I have the most advanced iPhone, and it can’t even cope with streaming music to some Sony wireless earbuds (from 2019) using Bluetooth 5.0 and connected to an Apple Watch s5 at the same time.
when this happens I get cut outs every minute or so. When I disconnect the watch it’s fine. So I know it’s not the Sony buds issue.
this is very poor for a device in 2020.
maybe a ploy to get you to get AirPods? I don’t want these as the Sony’s sound so much better

Unlikely a sell for AirPods more likely an issue somewhere. Have you tried unpairing and pairing again?

Yes I’ve tried unpairing the sonys and resetting them. Still does it when both watch and Sony’s are connected to iPhone

I think it’s a bug with the Bluetooth stack on iOS 14. I’ve never had any issues with the Bluetooth before but since updating to iOS 14 even the AirPods keep dropping connection.

I've had quite the opposite experience with iOS 14. Used to have lots of drop outs with car Bluetooth and now really solid. Rock solid with my Galaxy Buds+ so no Apple ploy to get you to buy AirPods.

It’s 100% a bug in iOS 14. I use AirPods everyday during my workout session and on iOS 13 I’ve never had issues with connection but on iOS 14 it keeps dropping the connection and also sometimes don’t connect at all. Sometimes it connects to 1 of the AirPods. So yeah I’m facing many connection issues. AirPods unpairing and repairing didn’t help either.

I have the same when connected to bluetooth in the car. If I use Siri on the Apple Watch (S6, but also had the same issues with my last 3 watches) it rarely works despite strong cellular connection on the phone. As soon as I switch the car off and disconnect from Bluetooth, the Apple Watch takes requests just fine

Hi, Im also having this issue on my Bose QC35 headphones whilst in a zoom call on another device.. the iPhone keeps dropping connections..

The Bluetooth stack seems to be messed up with iOS 14 update.

And I can categorically say that because the phone is dropping connection from all devices and not just the AirPods.

And this has never happened with iOS 13.

My 12 Pro Max is terrible with my bmw's bluetooth. Takes ages to connect, then drops the connection. My 11 Pro Max was faultless. I know of other 12 users with the same bmw with exactly the same issues. Hopefully a software update will fix it.
