iPhone calendar issue

The calendar on my 3g iPhone (2.1) shows a little dot under every single date. Previously this dot denoted an event scheduled for that date but now it is there for every day infinitely into the future even where the day is blank.

Is this a change that's been rolled out for everyone (I doubt) or is it a bug I can fix?
