iPhone calling plans

Hi Guys,

Just arrived in California from the UK and looking to get a phone. Ideally I'll get something cheap until the 3G iphone comes out. So my plan is to sign up to something cheap from ATT and then buy the iphone when it's updated.

Cos I'm new to the US, a few questions;

1) Inc. taxes, how much is the iPhone calling plan per month?

2) If I have a contract with ATT from this 1st phone, can I just upgrade the contract when I get the iPhone? Or would I have to cancel the first contract and start over?

as for upgrading, you basically just upgrade. (i think)

Hmm, not asking you to hack your iphone but T-Mobile is the only big carrier that offers 1 yr contracts. ATT only offers 2.
