iPhone can’t see Series 11

Hi,

Just got my series 11, trying a family member to set it up for me as I don’t have an iPhone however it wont sync, the watch says bring it close to the iPhone the iPhone does nothing. Bluetooth and wireless is turned on. Tried going into the watch app on phone and selecting setup for family member and then pair but nothing happens, watch is on with a swirling animation.

Any idea.

It’s an iPhone 12, iOS 17.1

You have to install iOS 26 on the iPhone.

Per Apple's tech specs, it needs to be an iPhone 11 or later on iOS 26.

Update your iPhone 12 to iOS 26
