iPhone capacity showing in itunes

According to iTunes, my current capacity is;

Audio 2.4 GB, Books .09 GB, Other 9.7 GB on my 16 GB iPhone

What the hell is all this "other" & how do I get rid of it

If that doesn't work, backup your phone and try restoring it to see if that fixes it.
