iPhone Carrier Unlock, what is the process?

I was able to process an Unlock request for my iPhone, with my aunt being a current AT&T account holder. The representative that I spoke with, told me that it's automatic and once I restore the device, it will be officially "unlocked". Is it really that simple? I thought you'd have to wait for a code of some sort?

Yes if AT&T customer reps are actually feeling nice and see that you meet all the requirements, they'll add your IMEI. In most cases though, they deny many so consider yourself lucky to get a 5 minute unlock. Enjoy
