My mom has an iPhone 6s and went to plug it in this afternoon and it wouldn’t charge at all. She then went and got my charger and she was able to charge her phone. I got home from work and her charger wouldn’t charge my phone either. I did some switching around with her charger and mine and ruled out the cord and it is the power brick that isn’t working at all. Last night we got snow and some ice and the power went out for a couple seconds last night and came back on. She doesn’t remember if she had the charger plugged in or not. Would it be a power surge that wrecked it. The brick does not work at all. I know Apple probably wouldn’t replace it for free since she is out of the one year warranty. What do you guys think happened. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

There very well could have been some sort of type of electrical current that overheated the charging brick when the power surged. It’s Never happened to me, but it’s also possible that the charging brick is faulty as well.
