Why is it that I left my iPhone to charge last night and now I wake up and it's telling me 20%. Yes it was in te whole night it didn't slip off

Are you sure it was charging, that is did you see the little lightening bolt in the battery?

ive seen this before

it might have overheated (perhaps you slept on top of it)

if the iPhone detects that it's overheating it will shut down the AC charging circuit ( which creates heat)

we need more details

Yes I slept on top of it. No i wasn't charging it in my computer. Yes it was in the charger

Maybe turned the Maps app on - which can drain a battery faster than a charger can charge it.
Lock the phone, and don't sleep on it!

lol thanks for the advice!

What I did was I put on a song and put it under my pillow and fell asleep to the song and then woke up and my iPhone had low battery. It died 20 minutes later. I waited about 30 minutes and plugged it in to my MacBook to charge. I learned my lesson and I will never do that again!
