iphone cheapest plans/ prepaid

looking to purchase and i phone but money is tight right now so i would like to know other than jailbreaking/unlocking an iphone what is the cheapest route to get a plan with service,
ive heard about the prepaid go phones sim being put into an iphone with a data package, i will not be purchasing the internet/data because i live in austin texas wich is a complete wifi city

if your tight on money, you might as well as buy the phone its self and just get a cheap plan

and i think you cant get prepaid on an iphone, im not totally sure about that

I paid $299 for the 4 Gig phone with a T-Mobile 1000 min voice, free nights/weekends, $6 for 400 text messages and $6 unlimited EDGE data - comes to $52/month - which is cheap compared to AT&T's equivalent...

Buy a used 1st gen unlocked phone and go to town on T-Mo cheap plans...
