iPhone 13 Pro Max iPhone Christmas Gift

I would like to buy my husband the new iPhone 13 pro max for Christmas now, 5 weeks before Christmas and trade in his current iPhone but Apple wants the trade-in mailed back within 14 days. Does anyone know if Apple is extending the trade-in date for early purchases?

Sell his phone after Christmas yourself on Swappa. You’ll get more money for it. A surprise iPhone for Xmas would be wonderful. Don’t ruin it by getting wrapped up in trade-in rules.
