My uni has wifi set up so that you have to connect to the network through a browser (as well as set proxy settings initially [thank god for 'location' option] ), which then this window needs to remain open. as well as something called Net Direct. I think this set up is like a VPN or similar.

What I am wondering is, do any of you know whether or not i can connect via the iPhone to a network that is set up this way?

I'm hoping this would be possible however, it wont bother me too much, as I presume with the 3G, that when wifi isnt available i will just use that.

This should work as long as they're not using some sort of browser plug-in, since you can't install those on iPhone.

Now for the bad news: depending on available memory, iPhone will close web pages (and reload them when requested again). Depending on how the system is set up, this may disconnect you each time that happens.
