iPhone connected to Wifi but can't use data

I have an iPhone 3GS running iOS4 (jailbroken).
I am connected to my home wifi using my iPhone, with WEP encryption (switched from WPA2 to see if this would fix the problem - no change).
The iPhone detects the network, it is connected (I see the 3 bar wifi icon at the top) with the normal IP (192.168.0.4) but anytime I go to use data, it says server cannot be found or simply takes ages (mobile internet speeds) to load anything.
Any help please?
