iPhone contact card photos

I've always added my contact card photos through Address Book.app on a Mac to get the smaller sized pictures during calls.
But since the introduction of iCloud, I've noticed that some contacts show the larger pictures instead.
Is there any way I can revert all photos to small pictures - and have them stay like that?
There's no way of even seeing which ones will appear large or small from Address Book.app either.
I don't feel like calling every person on my entire contact list.

I think I figured it out.
If the photo is 319x319 pixels or smaller, it'll appear small.
If the photo is 320x320 pixels or larger, it'll appear large.

I've noticed that with my iCloud contacts too, though I have found out that the ones I add on the device show up as full screen, while the small picture happens when I add a photo on iCloud.com. I will test this too though.
