A few weeks back, my issue started.

When syncing my iPhone (3GS 3.1.3) with iTunes on my laptop (Vista Home Premium) it would start to sync, then just crash iTunes. I would have to restart the laptop, and try again. I don't think it ever fully managed to sync everything.

iTunes would run absolutely fine, I could play music, access the store, download music and apps, sync and restore my iPod, and connect the iPhone, but as soon as I tried to sync the iPhone, it would start and halfway, just crash.

I visited the genius bar and they said to restore the phone, (which I was reluctant to, due to not wanting it to crash halfway), but I tried it. It backed up the phone, and then crashed when "preparing iphone for restore". So I then I put it into DFU mode, and tried again. Since then, it just will not complete a restore, and says "error 6".

I have tried all the troubleshooting options that Apple suggest for this, msconfig, removing iTunes and reinstalling, everything, and no luck.

I put iTunes onto my works xp machine, and plugged the iPhone in, and it found it, and restored it and I activated it, but then it's still very buggy when syncing back on my laptop.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be up? I thought it may be an issue with my laptop, but there are no issues with my iPod syncing?!

I've yet to try syncing on with my work computer, I might give it ago in a minute.
