IPhone damaged from sticky residue

I bought my iphone on Launch day and alongside it i bought a Case. So the case with a adhesive screen protecter like for handheld systems for PSP's and The nintendo DS. So after a while it started to come off. Then a little over a week ago the screen protector had come off about 25%. So i decide to take it off. So i Did and it left a a sticky residue. So now all i can do is slide on my phone and touch icons on the bottom 1/4 of the screen. So will apple replace for free or will i have to pay and how much.
