iPhone Data Network Loss Issue

Hey guys need some help, my iP4 has been fine and all of a sudden dosent seem to get a data connection when off wifi, it seems enabled and all turned on in settings but there is no logo at the top of the screen as there would be normally with the E or 3G icons. Any ideas? id assume it was my carrier (o2 UK) however since there is no logo on the pone atall it seemed wierd, also my housemate has a o2 iphone and has full data working so its not signal.
