TapTapTap's John Casasanta posted that he and his business partner Sophia Teutschler will be parting ways due to differences in opinion on the direction of the company.
Our arguments ranged from the amount of money and effort to put into advertising and marketing to the design of the apps themselves. Because we each had an equal stake in the company, it was a very democratic process but very often our visions were at odds with each other’s. Moreover, we’ve been friends for a long time before starting the business and the whole thing’s really hurt what used to be a very close friendship.
TapTapTap is the company that sold Where To?, a location-aware application that has brought in over $200,000 in revenue over the three months it's been available in the App Store. TapTapTap has pulled the application from the App Store temporarily while it seeks a buyer for the lucrative application.

So, if you're looking to jump start your way into the App Store, here's your chance.

wow.

I sure hope the buyer is able to provide software fixes and updates.

Is that allowed by Apple's rules to develop an App and then sell the rights to it?

Or when they decide they've made enough money... or worse yet when a new release of iPhone firmware breaks their App, they decide to pull it from the store so people won't expect a fix....

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

I doubt there is much value left in the App. Most of those sales were probably from when the App Store was opened.

they were at $70,000 after one month so sales have remained consistent.

This app was recently featured in the Boston Globe which probably helped sales considerably.

Too bad about the designers, hope the app has a future.

Reminds me of Humphrey Bogart in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre."

I have this app. It has a cool interface but I don't use it much. Is best suited for travelers who don't know their way around (although there are alternative apps with less cool GUI). I suggest offering it to White Pages.

$200,000 in sales in 3 months is actually lower than i'd expect for a cheap app that works properly. There are how many MILLIONS of iPhones/iPod touch in the U.S. alone right now? I don't remember what this app cost, but at best thats only 200,000 DL's.

Must be tough for developers who enter the app store, developing from a new business and all. They have no idea if their $1 app will flop or make them millions of dollars in just a few weeks. Like the Koi Pond developer. He clearly worked hard on that app, but did he have any idea he'd be rollin in the dough from a fake, usless $1 app??? How COULD you know?

finally

Finally there is a news article that has motivated me to remove my macrumors link from my bookmark bar. I don't think I've ever seen a story that interests me less. Wow, I can't believe I read it. You don't understand why I'm replying to it. I don't either.

That's unfortunate since you've been a member a whole 3 months. Not everyone is going to have an interest in every article, but considering the number of iPhone developers and users that come to MacRumors, I say this article is quite relevant.

I liked this article - enough to leave the rss reader and come to the page to read the article with comments. Please keep them coming!
