It's a heat sensor. Water makes the white ones turn red. Excessive heat makes it turn green.

Dude - you are so screwed if you try take it into the apple store now
 
My friends best friend, has an Uncle that works at Apple. Apparently a green water sensor is part of a new feature that can detect attempted jail breaking. Though since you can't jailbreak 3GS yet, it must have triggered by mistake. Strange....

What chemicals come in contact with the same sensor that has a chemical reaction with water to make it pink during a jailbreak?
 
Wow, that thing got so hot the apple logo And lettering are now backwards, also dust is now sticking to it too.
 
looks like a black iphone to me. :mad: not white at all just originally black.
