Has anyone ever come across any numbers as to how many iPhones have been DOA on launch day over the past 3 years?

it would be under 5%. Anything more than 5% tends to hit the papers

In the 3+ years of posting in the iPhone forum, I've never seen a single thread where someone got an iPhone and it didn't work right out of the box. They more than likely test the device before it's packaged up, and only if something happened during the shipping process from China could mess up the device.

Because most times when the slightest thing is wrong with an apple product, apple replaces it asap.
