I read MacRumors since I have got my first generation iPhone. For my surprise I was recommended by a friend that works with IT to write in this forum to comment about my 3GS problem, as I did not even know there was a MacRumors forum.
My dock connector had the malfunction many people sorted only cleaning the dock connector with an air spray or something similar after the repeated and random presentation of "This accessory was not optimized for the iPhone" popup, and consequent failure of all sounds but phone sounds.
My case was not sorted even after cleaning it with alcohol. I have then decided to buy a new dock connector and install it myself. It is working fine now, apart from the fact the signal is always worst than it would usually be. Wifi is fine, though. The seller of the parts said there is a kind of wax that covers the antenna that has to melt after about a month of usage in order for the signal to stabilize. Does that information proceed? Does anyone here have heard about it?
Many thanks for your attention,
Daniel.
