Iphone doesn't upgrade to 2.1?!?!

I have itunes 8 and it said that I needed to download firmware 2.1 so I did and and it extracted and and it backed up my iphone then it was updating and after 45mins if finished and turn itself off so i turn the iphone on again and it still 2.0.2????

What happened?

How can I check what version itunes i got?

That's weird. i would plug it back in and click the Check for Update button again. When it asks you what to do, make sure you hit the download and install option.

Easy way to check for updates is click "Help" on the top menu bar and then click About iTunes.

right is says "Updating Iphone software" and the iphone is at the apple logo screen with a wheel spinning at the bottom.

did you have a jailbroken version of 2.0.x?

The updates for iPhone basically reinstall the entire OS, which is what that's pretty much doing on that screen.

Nope i still have 2.0.2.

I have official not jailbroken.

when i click update it says 2.1 requires itunes 8 but i'm sure i have itunes 8 and it says would you download itunes 8 and i click download and then the stuff with the iphone happens like backup.

I dont get it. My itunes has genius if that helps.

my sisters xp machine was doing the same thing...

i walked her through an uninstall/reinstall of itunes and it worked like a champ

I downloaded itunes 8 again and now i plug in my iphone and it asks me to download and install 2.1 yay.
