iphone earphones in windows

Has anyone been able to use the traditional iphone earphone/mic combo to work in Windows XP? Obviously the earphones work, but I have not been able to get Windows to recognize the mic (I don't care about the button). Anyone have any success out there?

Are you expecting both to work by plugging it into the headphone jack? maybe the mic works if you plug it into the mic jack? I doubt the headphones would work then.

Ya, I was expecting both to work in the headphone jack (it does in OS X)
