iPhone earphones w Remote & Mic NOT working properly! :(

hey all,

so today, i bought a 45$ (apple products are 1.5x more expensive here in lebanon than in the usa) earphones just to find out that they half-work! the volume control doesnt work, but the mic works, the audio works, the center button works well too (1click: play/pause, 2click: next, 3click: prev).... is there anyway of makin it work w/o JB??

PS. im on a 1st gen iphone

Everything I've heard is that there is no way to make the iPhone 3G recognize the volume buttons even with a jailbreak.

You should have researched this a bit more before making a purchase

scroll down to the bottom. it clearly shows you what apple products they are compatible with

the volume controls are not compatible with 2G or 3G iPhones

I'm having the same problem, but i do have a 3gs. All the buttons work except the volume control. Anyone know whats wrong?
