iPhone EDGE problem

Hi all
I have a 2G iPhone jailbroken and unlocked on 3.1.3. My issue is that my EDGE connection always cuts off a few minutes after the screen locks. I realized this because whenever I start using the phone after a moment of inactivity I will always be unable to surf with Safari or login to Yahoo Messenger. I have to turn off EDGE with SBSettings and then turn it back on in order for it to work. This is really frustrating as Push Notification won't work because of this. Is this caused by SBSettings?
Please help a newbie out.

Try unlocking gain?
Idk man never heard of this... HAve you seen it drop while your using or only after lock?

I'd restore but I already have quite a number of apps so I'd prefer not to. The connection is good but after a few minutes of lockscreen it's gone when I try to use it again. Could it be because of MyWi?
If there's absolutely nothing I can do then I will restore
