Hey fellow macrumors readers,
I just wanted to share my experience with my iPhone overseas in Spain.
Before my trip, I was informed by my employer that I would not be able to take any of my PC or Mac laptops with me, which includes my superlight MBA. I was going overseas to present important information, so I was a bit skeptical with not traveling for a laptop for more than a week. I began to look at iPhone international calling and data plans and settled on the 50MB plan for $60 bucks.
I made sure that my presentations were finished before I left, burned them to a CD (I don't remember the last time I did that), put them on my iPhone using airsharing and was on my way. It felt really weird not traveling with a laptop. But I got through the week without it, and surprisingly, I didn't miss my MBA at all.
Now, I know that there is no true substitute for a computer - you still have to type letters, do powerpoint presentation, do real work stuff...but during the trip, I found myself checking email, web surfing, playing games, using apps for currency exchange, and the best app on the iPhone - Google maps - to get around. 50MB of data was more than enough for 1 week - I think I only used 30MB. The iPhone is a godsend, I never really understood how I survived without this thing.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience with you all. I am on here all the time and you guys give me good experiences and advice, so thank you.
