iphone explorer...so confused!!

Ok so I downloaded iPhone explorer so I could backup my phone and learn to customize it without using winterboard. For some reason winterboard crashes my phone. Anyways iPhone explorer looks nothing like the screen shots on the website so I have no option to back up. Not sure if I am missing something or what. Could someone who uses this explain it to me. I have googled it and I'm just not getting anywhere!

I don't know maybe you downloaded the program from a phony site? Why not use winscp as your ssh program. Is that what iphone explorer is?
