The thick of it
I was getting ready to record a video with my iPhone 4 and pulled out my trusty Sony stereo mic, which I used with my iPhone 3G. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that it didn't work with the iPhone 4. Nothing. Nada. I did some research online and discovered that Apple changed the circuiting in the headphone jack. I found some really clunky workarounds (with a string of adapters), but apparently there's currently no elegant solution. I went to the Apple Store, Best Buy and Radio Shack. The closest thing I found was Monster's oddly-named iSoniTalk, but it sounds like carp. I tried Apple's headset mic, but that has pretty poor quality too.

Has anyone had any luck with a simple workaround, or do we have to wait for vendors to catch up?
