So my iphone fell in the water and is recognized by my computer, but the computer can't determine the firmware or hardware specs. It says that my iPhone is in recovery mode when I plug it in, and then when I try to restore it, it says Iphone error 1611. Any thoughts?

How much time was there between the iPhone jumping in the water and you plugging it into any power source?

According to Apple, you are to try to reinstall iTunes, get a new USB cable, try it on a different PC... and then call Apple.

What you have is probably:

Water damage, according to Apple, is not their concern.

iPhone + water

I answered my phone in a very light drizzle & it killed the phone. Apple Store Genius checked the headphone jack & sure enough, it showed water damage. New one was on me. Got a new one (1 yr into a 2 yr contract) for $199. & then bought an iSkin Revo II case. ALL holes now covered. I love my phone for the most part but feel that the phone is too delicate as far as moisture goes.
