WHOA! I was about to call bull***t after reading your thread as I checked the Apple Store online (US) and it didn't mention anything about it, but then I noticed your location and checked the Apple Store online (HK) and there it was bold as brass for everyone to see on the front page:

I sure would like to get my hands on 1 of these, by my calculations you're looking at £370 for the 8GB and £434 for the 16GB, a bargain when you compare it to the price of the UK PAYG iPhones from O2.
Now all I've got to do is find a friend or relative who's off to Hong Kong! In fact anyone?!
But WHY only in Hong Kong?
In the UK it is also locked.
and? o2 are the best carrier.. Apple didn't pick them without a resone.. I love o2!

An unlocked phone would be very appealing, foe example, for somebody who frequently travels internationally and wants to maintain cellular service without paying international roaming fees, by using local SIM cards in each of the countries he visits.
For somebody who doesn't travel internationally with his cell phone frequently, and who has no beef with remaining with O2 domestically, that's just fine. Your choice is probably best for you.
It's ok to READ first before posting.

But then again, that would be asking too much for users of this forum.
If you're so concerned about someone already posting a thread on this topic then why reply and bump it back up to the top? The only thing I find annoying about members not using the search feature is the endless number of "I feel the need to try and behave like a mod and patronise you by pointing out the search feature" replies they incur, unsurprisingly this a generic role performed by a great many across the forum spectrum [as it were]![]()
Oh and yes that was a rhetorical question.
