I just bought my first Mac (MBP). I am a PC convert. I just plugged my iPhone in and an trying to sync it to my new computer, but I am not sure how to do it the right way. How do I do this so I do not lose anything on my iPhone?

Copy your old library folder into the Music folder on the mac. Make sure to consolidate it first, though.

I am not so much worried about my music (my iTunes library is already moved over). I am more worried about my contacts, preferences, apps, etc.

Move data.syncdb from

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\Apple Computer\SyncServices\Local

to

/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

That's the backup file which should contain all of your preferences, contacts, and whatnot. If not, the contacts are stored on the SIM card anyway. All of your apps are in the iTunes folder which you have already moved over.

I am in the exact same situation, but my old computer stopped working so I can't transfer any files. Am I probably going to lose all my contacts?
