Hello,

I have an iPhone 3G with iOS 4.2.1, jailbreaked and since about 4 months, I'm travelling a lot.
Part of my iPhone start to be deficient most notably Wifi for 2 months but what is puzzling me is the GPS behavior. I known it's not as efficient as a real GPS receiver but to be completely unreliable is not supposed to happen.

In Egypt and Jordan, GPS worked ok
Starting in India, I had different behavior depending on applications: openmaps+lite: no gps localization vs ok runkeeper (rk)/instamapper/galileo

After some time, GPS stops responding in all applications. I try usual recovering operations (soft, hard reset, erase full content, full firmware restore) without any luck (was also hoping to repair wifi)

Arriving in Singapore, I gave a new try and got some apps working and some not (runkeeper/galileo nok, gps tracker/around me: 8 km precision, openmap ~ok) but I suppose it was non-gps localization

In Malaysia, one day, I got it working: gps tracker/around me: precision 164m, openmaps/rk: ok/fair
and another day not: gps tracker: 1500m/gps, rk: nok/crash, aroundme: +/- 2km

Has someone else seen similar problems ?
Does this only solution seems to switch to an external bluetooth gps receiver (probably best) ? (don't count on buying a new iphone ... too expensive while travelling)

Thanks

I could be wrong but I don't think that iPhone has assisted gps. This is why your having issues. The phone dosent know which or where the gps satellite is.
