iPhone Groups wont delete

Hi,
I was re-organising my groups on my Mac and deleted a couple of them but they remain on my iPhone despite numerous manual syncs. All the new data I put in, whether via iPhone or Mac or Me.com appears in all of the machines fine, it is just that I can't get rid of the Groups on the iphone, even though they dont appear on the Mac or Me anymore.

Any ideas?
