iPhone hardware antenna change?

Hi all, I have an iPhone 3gs 8gb which was working all good until someone replaced the battery (not me, a friend as I was away when he was using it) and he broke the little metal golden tab bottom right of iPhone on the logic board. This caused no reception, so I soldered replacement on and I was damn confident it connected. But still no service. I wish it was 3gs as that was a way to fix it. Does any one know ways to fixx this issue. iPhone is factory unlocked etc. Please help.

Thanks, has anyone tried this and does it work? DOes the actually aerial do anything to reception causing my no service?
