For those interested, with keyboard support added in 4.0 it would be possible perhaps for accessory makers to come up with an iPhone case including a built-in Bluetooth keyboard. Use your imagination and there are several possibilities, case/battery-pack/keyboard etc.

Personally it's not my preference but I could see this being attractive to the BB diehards, as well as anyone who just wants little buttons for keys. It would even be nice for not taking screen space too.
All without apple ever building in a permanent keyboard, which of course they almost certainly never will.

For the life of me I do not know why something like this is not available yet. But a credit card swiper is?

^its not available because apple JUST enabled bt keyboards on os4.0. Soon after launch....I'm sure we'll start seeing keyboards and game controllers.

That's a good thing. But I still don't see the advantage of bluetooth keyboards and especially game controllers as a mobile solution because you're not going to be using the iPhone from away across the room with a BT keyboard.

For desktop use, yes. Pair a BT keyboard to the iPhone on a desk and use it like a laptop, like how you would with an iPad+BT keyboard. But when you're on the go, you're not going to be propping the iPhone on one hand and a keyboard module on the other. They would have to be attached together in a clamshell configuration. If they're that close together anyway, why not interface with the dock connector? More energy efficient, no?

Just because it is using bt doesn't mean it can't be attached to the iPhone....
Think of a controller that snaps onto the iPhone and interfaces via Bluetooth...making the iPhone into a psp type portable gaming system.
I am not talking about standard unattached game controllers...I'm envisioning something that attaches right to the phone.
