I was reading on one of the sites that this wouldn't be a good time to buy a new IPhone as their will probably be a second generation phone coming soon. I'm not big into being the first kid on the block to own new technology, so it is my preference to wait. One of my co-workers thinks they may announce an update at MacWorld in January.

they might announce it there ... but I'm gonna bet we don't see a new phone until the middle of next year... (late summer / fall)
keep in mind that they will have to get a FCC approval in America before they can sell a new band of phone (3g) ... so the public is going to know about a new phone months before we can buy it ...

Few expect a 2nd gen phone until Spring or later.
