you tap on the screen twice at any point (i'm assume except in safari) and it will bring up that window instead of having to back all the way out and go into the iPod function to pause, rewind, or forward a song.

Anyone know what the effect of this double tap is after you dismiss the music control? I hope the phone doesn't go back to being locked. I've been hoping for a way to bypass the slide to unlock since day 1. Double tapping the button to unlock the phone would be nice. I think Apple overestimated the inadvertant clickablility of the home button, especially for those of us who use a close faced case.

it was just speculation. i wouldn't be surprised to see a movie widget to coincide with leopard. but things like ichat, i wouldn't be surprised if it never came (god i hope i'm wrong).

I've posted about how annoyed I am with this delay, too, and been called a lot of names for it; but I agree with you: this seems ready and if it can't be out, they should at least give us a date to expect it, especially as it includes a feature running perfectly well on iPod touches. If the iPhone is the flagship mobile device we are hardly receiving flagship treatment.

You can also set the double tap to bring up your Favorite contacts.

You can also set it so that when music playing, it brings up iPod controls. If music isnt playing, it brings up the favorite contacts.

it'd be nice if there were more options as to where the double click brought us. i'd like the double click to bring me to my recents or maybe my contacts (not just my favorites).
