iPhone headphone amp....

Anyone got any recommendations on any iPhones / MP3 / portable amps?

Im thinking cheap and cheerful but I may be tempted for this if any good....open your to your suggestions btw...to be used with my iPhone 6 Plus

Audiophiles are going to tell you not to double amp which is what you will be doing (built in headphone amp and external amp). Ideally you get a DAC/amp combo connected by the Lightning port or get access to a line out and amplify that. Ever since Apple switched to Lightning getting a line out signal isn't as easy as it used to be.

That is why you want both amp & dac combo. What are you trying to accomplish as the amp that is in the iPhone can drive a lot of headphones. The combo dac and amp gives you more power ( if needed depending on the headphones you have) and converts the digital signal to a higher quality then the iPhone built in dac. The dac in the iPhone is the weaker link compared to the amp. Some people just get a mini dac instead of the combo since the amp in the iPhone is seficent in driving their main headphones. So what you get depends on what your needs are and what you are trying to accomplish. Hope this helps.

Have a look at JDS C5D. Nice clean sound, two modes of bass increase, powerful and will output from the Lightning port with a USB adaptor. Not cheap though, but well worth it and bypasses the double amping issue.
